Octopus

Octopus is a concept brand deeply rooted in street culture and in the Italian underground movement. Born from a rib of another Italian street brand called Iuter, Octopus became completely independent in 2012: It’s named after a print conceived by streetwear guru Giorgio di Salvo for the VNGRD project in 2005, which basically consists of an octopus print with multiple tentacles. Nowadays Octopus collections go far beyond graphic T-shirt as they include hoodies, jackets, beanies and more. Besides the graphic part, you should know that every Octopus item is 100% Made in Italy and complies to high quality standards. The Italian street brand takes care of every detail to create awesome collections, including textures and production methods, up to dying and printing techniques. Every year Octopus expands its offering: while its early days were distinguished by printed T-shirts and sweats, nowadays the brand designs multifaceted clothing collections, packed with diverse items that prove the increasing ambition of this streetwear company. Longtime collaborations with Italian artists, designers and other independent concept brands reveal the relentless research activity of a brand that was born almost by chance, but now boasting a highly distinctive aesthetic identity.

Who is the founder of Octopus?

Italian concept brand Octopus was founded officially in 2012, even though the notorious “Octopus” print saw the light in 2005. The idea behind this tentacular graphic came from Giorgio Di Salvo, one of the most influential figures within Italian and European street culture, a man highly revered by figures with the likes of Kanye West, Marcelo Burlon and many others. Octopus history is closely linked to that of another Italian street brand, namely Iuter. In fact, the first Octopus sweatshirts and tees were originally crafted for the VNGRD project, and later sold under the Iuter label.

How much is an Octopus T-shirt?

The average price of Octopus T-shirts is around €50. This applies to classic Octopus logo T-shirts, and also to Octopus’ most peculiar styles. Standout models include the Octopus Outline tees, the Octopus Dyed T-shirts done in pastel shades, the Octopus Half Tone showing a bicolour treatment and many other Octopus T-shirts with embroideries, bold patterns and seasonal graphics.

How do Octopus T-shirts fit?

Octopus tops usually have a regular fit, a relaxed wearability that’s not too oversize nor too slim fit, aligned with that of many other street brands. That said, it may happen that few clothing items feature a loose fit for which it’s better to buy one size smaller; for any doubt please check the product detail page of the product you’re willing to buy on SPECTRUM. Shorts, pants, knitwear, outerwear and tracksuits and the whole Octopus clothing catalog sticks to the comfortable, regular wearability mentioned above.
