Air Jordan 1

In 1985 Peter Moore, Creative Director at Nike, was dealing with a tough nut to crack: he was charged with designing the first Jordan shoe ever, a sneaker intended for a young rookie who had in charge the future of the Chicago Bulls and the whole NBA. That's how the myth of Air Jordan 1 and Michael Jordan begun. Michael Jordan himself got involved in the project by testing few prototypes and suggesting some changes - most of all he wants to the Air Technology, to feel the ground under his feet. After few early tests, designers finally unveiled the Jordan 1 "Bred": an airbag encapsulated in the heel allows MJ to fly, while the leather upper is made of overlapping panels and worked out in red and black just like Chicago Bulls jerseys. Plus, a white midsole sweetens the iper-aggressive look of a high sneaker built to suit MJ playing style. Breathability is up to a ventilated toebox. Other details to remember include visible stitchings, a Wings Logo on the collar and a "Nike Air" writing on the tongue. But the OG colorway breached the NBA dress code, which chose to fine the Bulls: as a result, the nickname Jordan 1 "Banned" made history. In 1985 Jordan unveiled 13 colorways, meanwhile the Jordan 1 become a real lifestyle sneaker, adored by sneakers and rocked on daily basis. Another turning-point happens when Japanese label Fragment reworked the shoe in 2012: after that, Jordan Brand started trying new things, including a Jordan 1 Mid iteration as well as hype-drawing collaborations like those with Virgil Abloh. Even if released back in 1985, these Jordan sneakers continue to be redesigned, reissued and renewed by the rules of the streetwear trends. Wear a pair of J1 and join the sneaker game through the front door!
