Stepney Workers Club is an English footwear and casualwear brand, inspired by the gentlemen’s clubs that thrived in the London of the early 20th century. The name itself pays homage to Sports Workers Club, private societies where sport started being practiced in a more professional way. To enter those clubs you had to sign a membership, pay an annual quote and follow some dressing rules, which usually consisted of wearing or not wearing specific clothes - plain low-top shoes were okay, for example. The East London brand produces high-quality corduroy and suede footwear sitting atop a vulcanized midsole, thus resulting in a timeless aesthetic that’s still relevant. Stepney Workers Club’s handshake logo trims most of the shoes and represents the inclusive spirit of the clubs mentioned above. To bring everything full circle and make the shoes more functional, S.W.C. also adds a shock-absorbing insole together with a white smooth sole.
